Epical takes a major step in its growth journey with the acquisition of Pulsen Integration
In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the Nordic market, Epical Group has acquired Pulsen Integration, a respected player in the system integration field. Announced at the end of September, this acquisition marks a significant milestone in Epical’s growth trajectory and enhances its standing as one of the largest integration teams in the Nordics.
We got to speak with Magnus Strömer, EVP of Integration at Epical, who shared the reasoning behind the acquisition and the future opportunities it presents.
A shared vision and values
Acquiring a consulting firm can be complex, as the real asset lies in the people, which can lead to challenges in work styles and cultural alignment. Therefore, when Epical and Pulsen Integration began discussions about a potential acquisition, it was crucial that they shared the same values.
"Both companies bring over 20 years of industry experience, and we quickly realized we were aligned in terms of values, our approach to integrations and how we envision market growth. It became clear that this would be a fruitful collaboration," Magnus explains.
For Epical, the focus is not only on expanding, but on growing strategically and remaining relevant in a rapidly changing market. Pulsen Integration's expertise in both large-scale on-premise solutions and hybrid cloud integration is viewed as a valuable asset that will complement Epical's existing offerings.
New opportunities for customers and employees
The acquisition has expanded Epical’s teams in Stockholm and Gothenburg, bringing the total number of integration experts across Sweden and Finland to approximately 145, making Epical one of the largest integration teams in the Nordics. Pulsen Integration's extensive technical knowledge and experience in on-premise and hybrid solutions will expand Epical’s capacity to tackle the most complex integration challenges.
"Pulsen Integration enhances our already strong expertise in integration and provides us with greater capability to meet advanced market demands. Their experience strengthens our service offerings, and together we will become an even more powerful partner for customers looking to become more data-driven and automated," Magnus says.
With Pulsen as a part of Epical, the company can now deliver even more tailored solutions to its clients in an ever-evolving market.
Merging two strong cultures
Regarding the integration of Pulsen Integration and Epical, Magnus emphasizes the importance of a smooth transition for all parties involved.
"We’ve maintained open communication and developed a solid plan for the acquisition together with Pulsen. We've focused on mentorship to help everyone integrate into the right teams, ensure effective management, and streamline the onboarding process," Magnus states.
He underscores the significance of creating an environment where all employees feel they can contribute with their skills and experiences.
Looking ahead
As they move forward, Magnus is optimistic about the opportunities the acquisition creates for both Epical and the broader market.
"We hope that both our customers and employees feel they are part of an exciting journey. We are forward-thinking and passionate about integration, and we want to continue demonstrating the substantial business value that effective integrations can provide," Magnus notes.
Magnus also suggests that additional acquisitions may be on the horizon to increase the company’s competitiveness in a market where expertise and agility are essential.
"To continue helping our clients become more data-driven and establish data-centric businesses, it’s important to be open to acquiring niche companies and seeking out synergies for future growth. The competition is fierce, but we are well-prepared to face it with our collective expertise," Magnus concludes.
